How to Prepare for your Appointment :
If you are new to acupuncture and don't know what to expect, I hope this information will ease any anxieties you may have about what to expect during your first treatment session.

Prior to your appointment:
Please make sure you eat. If it's hard for you to eat breakfast and you have a morning appointment, even a piece of fruit or slice of toast will be beneficial. Why? Because food makes and creates blood, and acupuncture moves blood within the body, and having movement without nourishment can sometimes cause dizziness, and lightheadedness. If you can avoid feeling that way, it would be a much more enjoyable experience.

Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes. There are times when clothing items will be removed, always with your consent; but there are also times when rolling up sleeves or pant legs will suffice to access the locations needed during your treatment.

Please fill out the intake form to the best of your ability. Your safety is of the greatest importance to me, and I want to make sure that I can help you to the best of my ability.

During your appointment:

If anything feels uncomfortable, in any way, please let me know. You are trusting me with your body, and I am honoured to be the practitioner that you are placing your care with. I will be checking in with you throughout the treatment, but if anything changes at any time, open communication between the two of us will enhance your treatment session.

After your appointment:

Drink as many fluids as possible. Warm water and herbal teas are an excellent choice. If you are able to have a nap, nap. If you are able to go to bed early, go to bed early. Try to nourish your body with a warming meal which includes proteins and carbohydrates.
Avoid strenuous or rigorous activity for the rest of the day after your acupuncture treatment, as you don't want to overwhelm your nervous system.
